Lyrics

Prayer of the Seven: More Than I Could Ever Contain
Ⓒ Drexel Rayford, Vagrants Chapel Music 2020

Lord, I love the laughter, the stories, the clever punch lines
And I love to gather the people that make me feel fine.
The happiness of family and friends,
The variety the world always sends!
It makes me feel high
to know that I could buy
a party that will never end!

And then I hear about the loss with the gain;
Along with the sun comes the rain;
When giving birth to a brand new life,
You have to face delivery pains.

Now, when the going gets lonely,
I start making my plans.
They say you can’t avoid the hurtin’
But I’ll try it every way that I can.

The boring stuff I try to ignore,
The hurtin’ stuff is what I deplore!
I do my best to blot it all out
‘Till I’m lying flat on the floor!

Seems I gotta take the loss with the gain;
Complement the sun with some rain;
When giving birth to a brand new life,
You have to feel delivery pains.

So Lord, still these notions that always seem to be in my head.
Lead me off the dance floor to walk in the garden instead.
There’s a better course that what I devise;
A Joy without a demise.
In the quiet with you
I know the truth,
There’s life in the shadow of death.

So I can celebrate the loss with the gain; soak in the sun and the rain.
And when I’m empty you fill me up, more than I could ever contain.
More than I could ever contain.
