From the recording Nine Prayers of the Soul
Lyrics
Savor the Twilight: Prayer of the Four
©️2021, Drexel Rayford, Vagrants Chapel Music
All poetry, all hymnody
Each grand plié
Every fine Monet
Cannot comprehend, cannot apprehend
The grace you send.
I see others thrive
Seem so alive
While in my own soul
There’s this gaping hole
And I despair you might not care
That I’m even there.
The twilight colors the mountains
A beauty that never comes back
But each day will follow darkness
And its mystery is dear to me.
Incessantly, this
Project of me
Is an endless quest
Where I find no rest
The cagey missing piece, the recurring scenes
I must release.
The mountains savor the twilight
And night time shelters the land
And all souls are like no souls
My one small voice sings what it can.
The tragedies
These agonies
I release them now
For you’ve shown me how
I am True, as all I do
Moves in you.
